Leaving Kapaau, Highway 270 now turns even more peaceful and scenic as we head toward North Kohala's grandest attraction - Polulu Valley. A quick side trip near mile-marker 24 will lead you to historic Kalahikiola Congregational Church (built in 1855) at 53-540 Iole Rd. |

The church's square steeple remains a striking architectural feature today. Please note that because of structural damage sustained during a 6.6 magnitude earthquake on October 15, 2006, reconstruction work beginning in September 2008 was necessary on the beautiful church. |
