After a drive of 11 miles, South Point Road will lead you to Ka Lae (the point) where the very first Polynesians were said to have landed in Hawaii around the year 500 AD and developed the initial Hawaiian settlements here. Fishing is a popular pastime at Ka Lae, as is a visit to one of the rarest sights in the entire world - a Green Sand Beach!
