Strong ocean waves crashing against volcanic rocks and recent lava flows have created a new Kaimu Black Sand Beach today not far from where the original one stood.
In an effort to begin the process of healing and rebuilding, selfless members of the Kalapana community have planted numerous young coconut trees as a symbol of new life along Kaimu's shore.
