Stay on Lighthouse Road to reach photogenic Kilauea Lighthouse at the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge.  Built in 1913, the beloved lighthouse is a National Historical Landmark and is recognized as the northernmost point of land in all of Hawaii.  Take the self-guided tour and enjoy the magnificent north shore views. Just offshore is Moku'ae'ae Island, a bird sanctuary for great frigates, red-footed boobies, etc.  Standing here over 200 feet above the giant waves while observing the thousands of protected birds in their natural habitat is truly an incredible experience.
