The next scenic stop you'll make along Highway 56 is at the royal resort community Princeville, located high on a plateau overlooking beautiful Hanalei Bay and the mystical Bali Hai cliffs from the movie South Pacific. Princeville was so-named in tribute to young Prince Albert Kauikeao'uli in the 1860s by influential local plantation owner Robert Wyllie.  The prince was the son of King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma and only two years old at the time of his family's visit to northern Kauai.
