Drive down Lele Road (543) to reach the nearby Salt Pond Beach Park.  At times you can still see evidence of Hawaiians continuing the age-old practice of drying sea salt on the local red earth.  The beach itself is equipped with facilities and provides good swimming and snorkeling for the whole family. Port Allen Harbor, completed in 1936, is Kauai's second major commercial port and can be seen just across the way in Hanapepe Bay.  The busy Harbor is also where many Na Pali Coast boat tours depart from.
