Many tourists were first introduced to Kauai by Technicolor images from Elvis Presley's 1961 film Blue Hawaii.  Down at the intersection of Route 580 and Highway 56, look for historic Coco Palms Resort which first opened its doors in 1953.  Romance and nostalgia abound here, especially for Elvis fans. That's because the King of Rock and Roll married his beautiful bride by the Resort's gorgeous lagoon in the film's stirring wedding finale. Shuttered for years due to damage from 1992's Hurricane Iniki, the Coco Palms is being redeveloped and will once again provide that lovely touch of island romance to visitors. You may also save money by renting an accommodation from a local bed & breakfast (B&B), condominium (condo), inn, or vacation rental in Wailua and Kapaa, Kauai.
