Wailua and the town of Kapa'a form what's known locally as the Royal Coconut Coast. Take one look at the enormous palm trees in the surrounding landscape and the title makes sense.
Because the area is also home to large numbers of hotel and condo accommodations, this stretch of Highway 56 can be congested at busier times of the day.
