Just after Kamalo you'll pull up to the quaint and photogenic St. Joseph's Church alongside the winding road. Built by Father Damien in 1876 (one of four Catholic churches he built topside of Kalaupapa peninsula), look for a stylized statue just outside the restored church today honoring the man once known as "the Apostle of the Lepers".
