With 98% of the island being privately owned by Castle & Cooke, Inc., it has been said that approximately half of Lanai's 3,100 people look to the company for employment. For better or worse, with the end of pineapple production, many citizens who once labored in the fields now work instead at one of the two local award winning Four Seasons Hotels. |
