If and only if you have an off-road vehicle, look for Maunahui Road approximately 3.5 miles outside of Kaunakakai for an educational and bumpy dirt road adventure. Because of bad weather and unfortunate bad timing, we have been deterred so far from making this drive up towards Kamakou Preserve, Molokai's incredible 2,774 acre rain forest. |

The ten-mile drive up mostly on a dirt path will first lead you to Sandalwood Boat (Lua Na Moku Iliahi), a dug pit used for measuring cargo loads of sandalwood for trade with China in the 1800s. Further on is the magnificent Waikolu Lookout, a 3,600 feet high view of glorious Waikolu Valley. |
