From The Lodge at Koele, take Keomuku Rd. to Cemetery Rd. and look for the Munro Trail just past Lanai Cemetery. The scenic ridge trail is named after George Munro, a New Zealand ornithologist, naturalist, botanist, and author who first arrived in Hawaii in 1890. |

In 1911, Munro was hired to manage the Lanai Co.'s cattle ranch and even at such an early date, he practiced conservation techniques and looked to preserve the environment by replanting the barren land on Lanai. |
