Ahihi-Kina'u Natural Area Reserve and La Perouse Bay are your end of the road destinations in South Maui.  This is the area where in 1790, Haleakala's last flow of lava headed dramatically toward the sea.  At the appropriately named La Perouse Bay in 1786, Admiral Comte de La Perouse… became the first European to step ashore on to Maui.  Today, the raw and isolated landscape is peaceful, undeveloped, and a perfect spot for quiet contemplation.  After taking in the dramatic scenery, drive back toward Central Maui for the final segment of your amazing journey.
