Pa'ia is an old plantation town created in 1880 when the Alexander and Baldwin Co. built its first sugar mill here. At one time, camps above the town housed 10,000 workers. A short drive up Baldwin Ave. will bring you face-to-face with remnants of the original mill. |

Look for the Great Paia Peace Stupa at the Maui Dharma Center, blessed by the 14th Dalai Lama in 2007 during his visit to the island. A little further on is the Father Damien Memorial at the New Holy Rosary Church. |
