Hanawai Falls offers another wonderful photo opportunity just past mile marker 24.  The Hanawi Stream is spring-fed so more than one waterfall can usually be seen here. Just past mile marker 25, immediately after a bridge, turn left down a winding 3-mile road to reach the once bustling village of Nahiku. At the turn of the century, companies such as the Nahiku Rubber Company planted rubber trees in anticipation of the growing needs of the automobile industry.  The heavy rain on this section of the coast however, ruined the fledgling enterprises.
