Driving leisurely in a southwesterly direction on Honoapiilani Highway (HI 30), you'll soon reach the small village and harbor at windy Ma'alaea.  This is where wind is funneled between West and East Maui… and if you look up at the hills, you'll notice the Kaheawa Wind Power Project Farm taking full advantage of this source of renewable energy.  The main attractions at Maalaea are family-friendly Maui Ocean Center and (when in season) the island's famous whale watching cruises.
