Continuing on Highway 83, you'll soon enter La'ie, the largest town in the northeastern section of the island.  Since the 1860s, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has had an influence in Laie... and the town is home to the Laie Hawaii Temple (1919).  The Mormon Church's impact is also felt locally as students from more than 70 countries attend school on the campus of Brigham Young University-Hawaii (1955).
