About 3 miles west of Downtown Honolulu is Honolulu International Airport, the major gateway to the islands of Hawaii and one of the busiest airports in the US.  Built in 1927, it was originally named John Rodgers Airport after the famous ex-Navy Commander who piloted the first trans-Pacific flight. It's always a beautiful and touching sight to see family and friends being welcomed back to Oahu with a traditional flower lei greeting at the airport.
