Start your day at Singapore’s first skyscraper - the beautiful Cathay Building, located at 2 Handy Road (right off of the eastern end of Orchard Road). Built in 1939 by the multi-talented Dato Loke Wan Tho (founder of the Cathay Organisation), the building was famous for its movie theatre and original art-deco façade that is now a preserved national monument. |

Look for the nostalgic Cathay Gallery on the second floor to learn about the Loke family’s many business interests and about the history of film production in Singapore and Malaysia. |
