A who’s who of famous guests have stayed at Raffles Singapore over the years including dignitaries, celebrities, writers, and artists.  Look for the suites named after well-known residents including W. Somerset Maugham, James Michener, Ava Gardner, Charlie Chaplin, and Rudyard Kipling. Somerset Maugham first visited Raffles in 1921 and wrote in part about Singapore in a collection of short stories titled The Casuarina Tree.
