While in Kampong Glam, just look up and you can’t miss the grand Masjid Sultan (Sultan Mosque) located at 3 Muscat Street.  Originally built in 1824 by Sultan Hussein, the currently existing Mosque was completed in 1928 by the Muslim community based upon the architectural firm Swan & MacLaren’s Islamic Saracenic designs. Look for the Mosque’s impressive onion-shaped golden dome as well as a prayer hall that can accommodate up to 5,000 people in prayer at this important National Monument.
