The Parkers and their descendants all led important and somewhat colorful lives, and you can learn much more by visiting the ranch and taking a Parker Ranch Cattle Country Tour or by checking out the local Kamuela Museum. John Palmer Parker's grandson Samuel Parker was known for living life to the fullest and for throwing lavish social events. From 1871 to 1906, Waimea was often called Kamuela (Samuel in Hawaiian) and to this day, the name Kamuela still often appears in signs and in guidebooks.
