Because of the October 2006 earthquakes off the Kohala coast, the palace sustained structural damage and restoration work continues today. Operated by the Daughters of Hawaii organization, the Hulihe'e Palace showcases island artifacts and memorabilia. An enjoyable concert series of Hawaiian music and hula take place on the grounds monthly.
