Back in Kualapu'u at the intersection of Highway 470, take Kala'e Highway up past the nine-hole Ironwood Hills Golf Course to reach the R.W. Meyer Sugar Mill and Moloka'i Museum & Cultural Center. From 1878 until 1889, German immigrant Rudolph Wilhelm Meyer and his Hawaiian wife Kalama Waha operated Hawaii's smallest sugar mill right here in upcountry Kala'e at 1,500 feet elevation.
