Wailuku is a wonderful location to spot several distinctive buildings designed by the famous island architect Charles William Dickey.  Born in 1871 to missionary lineage, Dickey became famous for using an angled roofline known as the "Dickey Roof."  The architect designed with the "true spirit of Hawaii" in mind.  Wailuku Public Library is a stately example of Dickey's design. At the corner of Main Street and HI 30 is photogenic Ka'ahumanu Church, founded in 1832, with the current structure designed by Reverend Edward Bailey in 1876.  On the National Register of Historic Places, the church is still in operation today and the grounds often serve as a stage for wonderful free music performances.  Meet under the monkeypod tree in historic Wailuku!
