Two of the most beautiful beaches in the state, Kailua Beach Park and neighboring Lanikai Beach, can both be found in idyllic Kailua. In 1996, one-mile long Lanikai Beach was named America's Best Beach on Dr. Beach's (Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman) annual top listings. In 1998, two-mile long Kailua Beach Park was bestowed with the same honor.
