Princess Victoria Kaiulani (1875-1899), the Crown Princess of Hawaii at the time of the overthrow, would never come to power. Acknowledged for both her intelligence and beauty, Princess Kaiulani traveled to the US mainland at the age of 17 to protest the actions of the provisional government. Kaiulani is quoted to have said the following resounding words to a gathering of reporters. |
