Learn more about the strength, beauty and history of the Hawaiian people at several landmark museums.  The impressive Bishop Museum (1892) was built by banker Charles Reed Bishop in honor of his wife Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop (1831-1884), the great-granddaughter of King Kamehameha the Great. Located at 1525 Bernice Street in Honolulu, the Bishop Museum is the largest museum in the state and houses an extensive collection of Hawaiian artifacts and royal heirlooms.  Look for treasured items such as Kamehameha's feathered cape or Duke Kahanamoku's surfboard on display here.
