Next to San Souci Beach is the Waikiki Natatorium War Memorial, opened in 1927 to "honor 101 who died and the nearly 10,000 others who served in World War I from Hawaii." The arena's 100-meter pool was a hit with famous swimmers including Duke Kahanamoku, Esther Williams, and Johnny Weismuller. |
