In 1914, parks administrator Ben Hollinger began exhibiting animals at Kapiolani Park, and the Honolulu Zoo (corner of Kapahulu Ave. and Kalakaua Blvd.) has since grown to become a 43-acre attraction that educates over 750,000 visitors annually. Children love the Snooze in the Zoo program that allows them to sleep on the Zoo's lawns under the stars as well as the Junior Zoo Keeper classes.
