The 50th state's rich history continues on the opposite side of the State Capitol, where Queen Liliuokalani's Statue faces her royal home - the Iolani Palace.  Lili'uokalani (1838-1917) was the last ruling monarch of the Hawaiian Islands, and the people of Hawaii will always be reminded of her plight. The Queen's story is an important chapter in the story of the islands, and this is how it came to be.
